As a traditional rubber variety, natural rubber is widely used in all walks of life. Isoprene rubber, also known as synthetic natural rubber, can be used in the manufacture of tires, tapes, hoses, etc., and can also be used as an adhesive and other rubber modifiers. In actual production, natural rubber and isoprene rubber have similarities and differences. Many rubber product manufacturers use natural rubber and isoprene rubber together to further improve the overall performance of rubber products.

1. The similarities between natural rubber and isoprene rubber

(1) The molecular structure is the same: the main component of natural rubber is cis-1,4-polyisoprene, and the content of rubber hydrocarbon (cis-1,4-polyisoprene) is above 90%, which is an unsaturated rubber , Each link has a double bond that can undergo an addition reaction. Isoprene rubber is a high cis (cis-1,4 content of 92%-97%) synthetic rubber made from isoprene, its full name is cis-1,4-polyisoprene rubber, and its molecular structure Same as natural rubber and similar in performance.

(2) Ease of processing: From the perspective of processing performance, natural rubber has a certain amount of gel components, high molecular weight, wide molecular weight distribution, high α-methyl activity in the molecule, and the molecular chain is easy to break, and it is easy to masticate. Process operations such as mixing, calendering, extruding, forming, etc., have good fluidity during vulcanization. Isoprene rubber has a short plasticization time, simple mixing and processing, and good fluidity during vulcanization (fluidity is better than natural rubber). Therefore, both natural rubber and isoprene rubber have good processing performance.

2. The difference between natural rubber and isoprene rubber

(1) Physical and mechanical properties: Natural rubber has good physical and mechanical properties and is a self-reinforcing rubber with high Green strength. Compared with natural rubber 2LLYY922, isoprene rubber has poor tensile strength, elongation at break, hardness, tear resistance and fatigue resistance, and it is difficult to be used alone in the production of high-strength, high-wear rubber products.

(2) Anti-aging and medium-resistant performance: natural rubber contains unsaturated double bonds, which has weak resistance to light, heat, ozone, radiation, heavy metals, etc., and is not resistant to aging. Isoprene rubber has the performance characteristics of synthetic rubber, heat resistance, cold resistance, oxidation resistance, and chemical stability are better than natural rubber. It can be used with natural rubber to further improve the overall performance of rubber products.

3. The significance of the combined use of natural rubber and isoprene rubber

Natural rubber has poor aging resistance, and isoprene rubber has low strength and elongation; isoprene rubber has good fluidity but is easy to deform during storage and processing, causing problems such as difficulty in mold loading. The combined use of natural rubber and isoprene rubber in a certain ratio can not only improve the air tightness, chemical stability and aging resistance of natural rubber, but also improve the strength and elongation performance of isoprene rubber, and improve the processing performance of rubber products.

In actual production, the price of natural rubber and isoprene rubber is very high. Rubber products manufacturers can also choose to replace natural rubber and isoprene rubber with latex reclaimed rubber, isoprene reclaimed rubber (PP reclaimed rubber), or replace the natural rubber and isoprene rubber. The use of rubber and isoprene reclaimed rubber, or latex reclaimed rubber and isoprene rubber, or natural latex reclaimed rubber and PP reclaimed rubber, can further reduce the cost of raw materials while ensuring the quality of rubber products.
