When producing solid rubber products with EPDM rubber, an appropriate amount of EPDM rubber powder can reduce the Mooney viscosity of the compound and improve the fluidity of processes such as mixing and extrusion. After extrusion, the shrinkage and expansion rates of the rubber compound containing rubber powder decrease, stabilizing the dimensions of the extruded semi-finished product and increasing the extrusion rate, which is especially important for continuously extruded products such as sealing strips and rubber hoses.

Natural rubber has high strength, good elasticity, and excellent flexural properties, but it has poor aging resistance, poor adaptability to high-temperature environments, and relatively low insulation performance. 3. Application of EPDM rubber powder in PP modification

Polypropylene (PP) has advantages such as chemical resistance, heat resistance, good electrical insulation, and high mechanical strength, but it has poor low-temperature impact strength, is prone to brittleness, and lacks sufficient weather resistance. EPDM rubber powder has good compatibility with PP and can be used for PP toughening and modification.

EPDM rubber powder is dispersed as an elastomer phase in the continuous phase of PP. When subjected to external impact, the rubber particles can induce silver lines and shear bands, absorbing impact energy and preventing crack propagation, thereby improving PP's impact strength. Research shows that when the mass fraction of EPDM rubber powder is about 15%, the impact strength of the PP/rubber powder blend system reaches its peak; The particle size of the rubber powder should be 80 mesh; particles that are too small or too large are not conducive to performance improvement.
